🌟 A Magical Gluten-Free Weekend in London
There’s something truly special about planning a little getaway with a touch of magic — and that’s exactly what my partner and I set out to do when we booked tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at London’s iconic Phoenix Theatre.
Checking In.
this is a test
We stayed at the Apex Hotel, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like the perfect base for our wizarding adventure. The room was incredibly comfortable — modern, cosy, and just what you want after a long day of exploring London.
But the real win? Their approach to gluten-free dining.
As someone who needs to eat gluten-free, breakfast buffets can sometimes feel like a minefield. But the staff at Apex were brilliant, taking the time to explain exactly what I could enjoy safely and preparing it with genuine care. It made the mornings feel relaxed and indulgent rather than stressful — such a refreshing change!
🎠Immersed in Magictest:
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
If you’ve ever wondered whether the hype around Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is real… it absolutely is.
We booked to see both parts in a single day — a full magical marathon and it was worth every second. The storytelling, the staging, the surprises (no spoilers!)… it all felt breathtaking. Seeing the audience gasp together at certain moments was half the fun!
It’s a long experience, though, which meant we had just over an hour between the two parts to find something quick, tasty, and gluten-free.
Honest Burger.
We dashed over and — miracle of miracles — managed to get seated and fed within our tight window. They’re known for being gluten-free friendly, and they did not disappoint. Delicious burgers, safe options clearly laid out, and staff who get it. When you’re hungry, short on time, and relying on a kitchen to take your dietary needs seriously… well, Honest Burger felt like a hero.
If you haven’t been before while in London, add it to your list — coeliac-friendly comfort food at its best.
Final Thoughts.
From a cosy hotel and a thoughtful breakfast to incredible theatre and delicious gluten-free bites, the whole weekend felt seamless and special. London can be hectic, but when you find places that understand gluten-free dining and pair them with a little theatre magic, you end up with a truly unforgettable escape.
I’d recommend every part of it — the Apex Hotel, Honest Burger, and of course The Cursed Child — to anyone looking for an enchanting (and coeliac-friendly!) weekend in the city.
